There's an Italian from Texas putting warm smiles on the faces of those lucky enough to get into Feinstein's at the Regency. His name is Steve Tyrell. What a winner! He's Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong and Fred and Ginger all dressed up in bicoastal black duds. Steve's musicality is one singular sensation in this age of hiphop screeches. The loquacious Steve (he talks, too) sings the songs we all adore in a unique and charming manner. But, hurry, because you only have tonight and tomorrow to catch his act.
Steve is also a songwriter and record producer. His CD, "A New Standard" (Atlantic Records), has been on Billboard's jazz charts for months and is hailed by Woody Allen, Burt Bacharach, Sophia Loren, Rosemary Clooney and, of course, Ahmet Ertegun as "a must have.
