Singer and actress Lainie Kazan (a former Tony nominee as a featured actress in the musical My Favorite Year, will open May 23 at Feinstein's at the Regency. Kazan plays Feinstein's through May 27.
"I've put together a show of all standards," Kazan told Playbill On-Line. "There will be one or two songs by new composers, but mostly we'll be doing music from my CDs 'In the Groove' and 'Body and Soul.'" Kazan said she also hoped to do "a few real gems from my first album with MGM that were arranged by my husband, who is no longer with us."
Kazan's set will feature songs by Harold Arlen, Jimmy McHugh and others.
Speaking from Los Angeles, Kazan says she will be accompanied by her trio, pianist Bob Kaye, drummer Eddie Caccavale and bassist Lew Scott.
