Barbara Schottenfeld: composer, lyricist, librettist, and performer, writes for Broadway, Off-Broadway, and has performed her one-woman cabaret act from Lincoln Center in New York to the Cinegrill in L.A. As a lyricist, Ms. Schottenfeld has collaborated with legendary composers Jule Styne, Henry Mancini, Burton Lane, as well as Steve Allen. Critically acclaimed as writer/composer and performer, she is described as ?diversely talented? (The New York Times), ?a megatalent? (UPI) and ?a true verbal artist? (John Simon). The L.A. Times writes ?Schottenfeld Gives a Lesson in Cabaret,? noting her ?well-crafted material?, her ?high-spirited comedic interludes?, her ?versatile vocal timbre?, singing ?with the panache and style of a veteran nightclub performer.? A University Scholar at Princeton, Schottenfeld penned the book, music, lyrics and orchestrations for I Can?t Keep Running In Place* as an undergraduate. The show, which has been produced throughout the world, became an Off-Broadway hit. Schottenfeld wrote book, music and lyrics for other Off-Broadway musicals-- Catch Me If I Fall, and Sit Down And Eat Before Our Love Gets Cold, earning Schottenfeld two NEA Awards and a Drama League Award. Her largest musical to date is Hot And Sweet, which won the Director?s Choice Award at the New York Musical Theatre Festival and is currently being developed for Broadway. Faith Prince, Tovah Feldshuh, K.T. Sullivan, Kerry Butler, Lea Michelle, and Katie Finneran have appeared in the cast. The recipient of fourteen ASCAP Musical Theatre Awards, Ms. Schottenfeld is also a playwright member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre and Dramatist Guild. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and the Berklee College of Music.
